Oregon residents are finally receiving their SNAP benefits again. This has been such a relief for many of our clients who have been struggling these past few weeks. The timing couldn’t have been better, as we’ve seen a big increase in the number of people turning to us for help.
And speaking of awareness — our food bank was featured on KPTV’s Sunday evening news and throughout most of Monday’s broadcasts! If you didn’t get a chance to see the interview, it’s posted on our Facebook page. The exposure has been a huge boost — both in donations and in new clients who learned about us for the first time. It’s truly amazing to see how much awareness and compassion can grow from a single story.
Now for this week’s numbers — and they’re BIG:
- 6,887 pounds of food donated from grocery stores
- 2,232 pounds of food donated from our community
- 596 people served from 189 households
(For comparison, last week we served 429 people from 149 households!)
